Amy Kemp, CPA, CISA, CRISC, CISSP

Member/Manager, Kemp CPA PLLC

Ms. Amy Kemp has over 30 years’ Accounting, Tax, Audit, and Operations Management experience, working in or with public, private and non-profit organizations. She began her career in the Huntsville, Alabama area where she worked as an industrial and manufacturing Controller while developing her accounting, operational and project management skills.

Mid-way through her career Amy moved into IT audit, governance and compliance work, while also physically moving to Asheville, NC in 2008. She decided to open her own firm in 2017. Kemp CPA PLLC opened its second office in Huntsville, Alabama, in 2024.

Amy is driven to solve problems and find efficiencies. She’s open to taking on challenges that others might shy away from, and loves to see things move from chaotic to an organized state. She is passionate about consent-based governance and coalescing disparate perspectives through collaborative decision-making.

In her free time Amy enjoys pickleball, playing strategy boardgames, paper mache, biking, spoiling her kitties, and sharing these things and more with friends and family.

Melanie Kemp

Bookkeeper

Melanie Kemp brings a unique blend of financial expertise and environmental insight to her role at Kemp CPA. With over eight years of professional experience, Melanie has cultivated a reputation for enhancing communication, efficiency, and accuracy across diverse projects and industries.

As a dedicated bookkeeper with Kemp CPA, Melanie provides critical support to multiple small businesses, managing invoices, bill payments, payroll, and financial reporting. Her approach ensures her clients receive accurate, timely, and customized financial services.

Melanie’s extensive background in environmental sciences complements her financial work. As an environmental regulator, she oversees key programs, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. Her technical skills in data reporting, regulatory processes, and project management demonstrate her adaptability and commitment to precision.

With a strong educational foundation, Melanie holds a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Studies from Warren Wilson College. When she’s not working, Melanie enjoys mountain biking, running, gardening, and reading.

Nikolas Kemp

Accounting Specialist

Nikolas Kemp graduated from the University of North Carolina Asheville with a degree in Accounting and minors in Economics and Business. He has several years of experience in accounting, specializing in non-profits and small businesses, working with clients like Model Communities Association, Corliss & Solomon PLLC, and The Wild Salmon Company.

A US Air Force veteran, Nikolas developed strong leadership and collaborative skills, having been appointed class leader during his linguist training and earning a 4.0 GPA in the Urdu program, the first to do so in its history. He brings this same dedication and teamwork to his accounting work, supporting clients with everything from Xero setup to sales tax filing and 1099 reporting.

Nikolas is also passionate about giving back, volunteering with organizations like Ronald McDonald House and Habitat for Humanity, where his efforts have directly helped low-income families gain affordable housing. A skilled polyglot, he speaks Urdu, Hindi, Spanish, and Khmer, and continues to develop his linguistic skills through teaching ESL and cultural exchange.

In his free time, Nikolas drives for Lyft and Uber and contributes to maintenance activities at Model Communities Association.
